How TextKey works
TextKey
Standard authentication involves entering a login name and password and validating those credentials. TextKey
You enter your login name and password as usual. Upon validating that your login name and password is valid, you will be prompted to text a unique code (displayed on the browser window) from your mobile phone to verify that it is you. When you send the text with that unique code from your phone, the TextKey
- Unique code
- Cell phone number
- Cell phone's UDID
- Dynamically assigned destination (the phone number/5 digit short code to which the unique code was sent)
- An optional fixed personal pin you can choose to append to the unique code for additional security
- A single use URL to show the unique code and the dynamically assigned destination on the browser window
Why do I need TextKey ?
Traditional login name and password authentication isn't as secure as it used to be. Simply put, if someone gets your password, they can access your account. Having at least a Two-factor authentication solves this problem. Of course, having TextKey
What makes TextKey different from other two factor SMS authentication?
In a typical SMS authentication scheme, the user is sent an access code via a SMS. The user must enter this code to access the site. TextKey
